Everyone's always looking for a deal. Whether it's waiting for that sweater you liked in the clothing shop in Grand Harbour, Toronto to go on sale or trying to negotiate down the sellers of that house you want, whether or not you get a deal rests largely in your own hands. If you're looking to save a few bucks on the asking price of that home you've got your eye on, use this article to give you some ideas on how to get a price reduction out of the seller.

Wait

The waiting game is a passive aggressive strategy and the least confrontational method on our list. All you have to do is simply let the house for sale in Arlington you like continue to sit on the market until the seller decides to drop the price. Be warned, however, that this strategy will only really work in a buyer's market. If the seller has other interested buyers, waiting before putting in your offer will only result in you losing the house to someone else.

Play Hardball

Negotiation is the process by which home buyers manage to secure price reductions, and they do it by making offers lower than the asking price. The seller counters with a slightly higher offer and a compromise is made in the middle. If you really want to save money, however, you can play hardball and refuse to budge from your initial low offer. This forces the seller to either reject you or cave to your desires. Make a Trade

While most price reduction strategies will only work in a buyer's market, you can actually pull this one off in a balanced or seller's market. In order to get the seller to agree to a lower price on their Puerto Vallarta real estate, offer them something they really want in return. This might be a quick closing, a promise not to disturb the grave of their dead dog Fluffy, or a lesser share in the closing costs. To find out what they want, you'll have to get to know them, though.

Find Imperfections

One of the most common methods of wrangling a price reduction, however, is to make your offer conditional on the home inspection. When the inspector tours the Ajax house for sale and inevitably finds issues, you can ask the sellers to reduce the price of the home by what you estimate the repairs will cost. If they don't want to lose the sale, they'll agree, even in a seller's market, because the deal is so close to going through.
